Energy Compliance & Efficiency Solutions for Irish Businesses
Energi IQ offers energy compliance and efficiency services for Irish businesses and public buildings. Our SEAI-registered assessors provide Commercial BER certificates, Display Energy Certificates, and thorough Energy Audits that meet regulatory standards. We also identify cost-saving opportunities to reduce operational expenses and improve building performance. Our team simplifies energy regulations into practical solutions tailored to your needs. With detailed assessments and actionable recommendations, we turn energy compliance into a valuable business advantage.
SEAI Energy Audits

Free SME Energy Audits: SEAI Energy Audits allows small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who spend more than €10,000 per year on energy bills, to appoint an energy auditor to conduct an energy audit on their business. A voucher to the value of €2,000 is provided to successful applicants, which in most cases will cover all costs associated with the audit.
SI 426 Compliance Energy Audits: The Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) mandates large organisations to complete energy audits every four years. This requirement was transposed into Irish legislation in 2014 through SI 426 and is called the Energy Auditing Scheme (EAS) in Ireland.
ASHRAE Level 1, 2 & 3 Audits: The three levels of audit range from a Level 1 basic “Walk through Analysis” of a building or process through to a Level 3 detailed “Investment-Grade” Energy Audit.
Commercial BER Energy Assessment Services

It applies for new and existing Non-Domestic buildings. Once completed, the Non-Domestic BER provides a coloured rating system. This ranges from A1 to G. It’s similar to ratings found on white goods. A is the most efficient rating. and G is the least efficient. As a result, better ratings indicate more energy-efficient buildings. Consequently, buildings with better ratings typically have lower fuel bills.
Each BER certificate is published with an Advisory Report. This report relates specifically to your property. The Advisory Report lists potential improvements for your building. These enhancements can increase the energy efficiency of your Non-Domestic property. The new buyers or tenants have no legal obligation to implement these suggestions. These recommendations remain optional under current regulations.
Display Energy Certificates (DEC)

Buildings over 250 m² and publicly funded, or over 500 m² and privately owned, must display a valid DEC, which should be visible to the public and renewed annually. Exemptions include Protected Structures, Temporary Buildings, Places of Worship, Agricultural Sheds, and properties set for demolition.
At Energi IQ, our SEAI-registered assessors conduct thorough on-site evaluations to ensure accurate and compliant DEC assessments. We manage the entire certification process, delivering a legally compliant DEC and an advisory report identifying practical energy-saving opportunities.
Domestic
BER Assessments

It applies for new and existing Domestic buildings and once completed the Domestic BER gives a coloured A1-G rating similar to those found on white goods, where A is the most efficient and G is the least efficient. The better the rating, the more energy-efficient the building is, and the lower the fuel bills are likely to be.
Each BER certificate is published along with an Advisory Report relating to that property. A list of improvements that can be made to improve the energy efficiency of the Domestic building will be stated in the Advisory Report. The new buyers or tenants of the property are under no legal requirement to implement these recommendations.
Part L and NZEB Compliance Assessment Services

In Ireland, all new Non-Domestic buildings must comply with the NZEB Energy, Carbon and Renewables Targets by achieving compliance with the standards that are set out in Technical Guidance Document (TGD) Part L.
Energi IQ provides professional advice on how best to achieve TGD Part L compliance for Non-Domestic buildings.
BER Plus Reports
(Non-Domestic)

The report investigates several site-specific measures to improve the Current BER rating. It also provides indicative capital costs for these measures and estimated payback periods.
Firstly, the report looks at individual measures for enhancing the BER rating and then cumulatively combines the measures to show the overall effect of implementing the multiple measures together.
Dynamic Simulation
Modelling (DSM)

DSM creates a detailed thermal model of the proposed building to provide reliable predictions of parameters about the building’s performance, such as the potential heating, ventilation and cooling loads. In particular, DSM can be used to provide detailed analysis for buildings of all levels.
DSM Modelling can also be used to undertake analysis of the ‘Prediction of Operational Energy Consumption’ for a proposed building.
The model will include the predicted operating hours, occupancy profiles, occupancy densities, thermostat set points, HVAC system operation, lighting operation and management control systems.
The model will also include Equipment and Small Power Energy usage within the building i.e. IT equipment, TVs, Kitchen Appliances, Alarm Systems etc.
Once completed the model will be able to give the prediction of operational energy consumption of the proposed building once in use.
Overheating
Assessments

Overheating occurs in a building through inappropriate design, poor management or inadequate services. Features of a design that support lower winter heating demand (such as large areas of south-facing windows, high levels of insulation, low air permeability rates and low thermal mass) can result in excessively high internal temperatures during summer months.
Detailed overheating analysis is typically performed using Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM) software which can analyse the occupied spaces and assess performance against criteria set by CIBSE (Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers).
Traditionally CIBSE TM52 (The Limits of Thermal Comfort: Avoiding Overheating in European Buildings 2013) guidance has been used. In recent years, further guidance has been released in the form of CIBSE TM59 (May 2017), specifically addressing the overheating risk in homes.
Energi IQ carry out TM52 and TM59 assessments to predict overheating risk for Non-Domestic and Domestic building designs using DSM software.
Decarbonisation
using Digital Twins

The Digital Twin thermal model is calibrated with actual data from the building in operation, whether that be billing data, BMS data, or sensors. A Digital Twin provides a more dynamic, accurate visualisation of how your building behaves and consumes energy like its real-world counterpart.
The Digital Twin allows us to assess multiple energy-saving interventions as part of potential retrofit measures, with realistic and accurate energy and carbon savings.
Once all analyses are completed, a technical report will be issued, providing a pathway to decarbonisation using the results from the Digital Twin analysis.
